WorldWideConnected.com: You have been around since the evolution of the whole Bay. How do you feel about the Bay Area’s current status in the rap game?
As far as The Bay’s current status I can honestly say that I am proud of those that stepped up0 tp the plate. What they are doing is like a relay to keep it going for us even though we are hated on which that is a different story. I am proud of what they are doing in the game rap right. I am proud of the Hyphy Movement and everybody. In the end we just have to figure out how to keep this going because in reality we are in direct competition with everybody.
WorldWideConnected.com: Why do you think people have slept on The Bay for so long?
I really wouldn’t use the word slept on because if you look at a clock there is a second hand that ticks all the way around the clock, and what it does is it rotates. Everyone gets their season and it is really looking like it is our season again. When the clock comes around in our sector you just have to be ready to capitalize and that is how I look at it as an OG in the game.
WorldWideConnected.com: What have you been up to these days homie?
I am writing a movie right now as we speak. I stumbled and was in the ghetto university for a little while but now I’m back. Me and my cousin formed like an alliance and it is called Bag Man Entertainment. It is education and schooling the youngsters about dotting their I’s, and crossing their T’s in the music game. Eventually I want to hold down the fort in The Bay area because I had to finally realize that I am a messenger. Kids are memorizing rap lyrics before they are memorizing their ABC’s. That is where I am with life right now. I do a lot of different things. I am an editor for “The Beat With In” which is a juvenile newspaper. That’s another story but it is related to the question.
WorldWideConnected.com: Can you tell me about the movie?
The movie is called “The Motive” and it is about my life. It shows you how back in the day me, and E-40 did shows together back when he better known as MR. Flamboyant, and as well as the man they call the fastest rapper in the world out there from Chicago and his name is Twista. We used to do shows for my Uncle and it doesn’t cist to amaze me that we are still in it.
WorldWideConnected.com: That is longevity and that is something that a lot of cats don’t have!
I miss Pac so much and that was a prolific and a very smart individual.
WorldWideConnected.com: If Pac was still here today how do you think the music game will be right now? Do you think it would be different or the same?
I think it would be different and I think there would be more of a East Coast/West Coast thing going on today. I was always taught that I never set trip but I try to be global. That way you can stay focused on the up and coming. With me myself if you listen no one is going to die on my songs because I am a player for real. I’m a lover not a fighter! I don’t want nobody to die so I’m not gonna be all like “Click, clack” because I am a father as well. To each is own! Don’t get it twisted! I look at the music industry and wonder why they knock the rap so much because they don’t knock movies like “Young Guns” and “Hannibal Lector.”
WorldWideConnected.com: They come at rap music all of the time since the birth of rap. Why do they do that even to this day?
Ching, ching, ching, is the sound of the cash resiter machine. It’s all political and it is all about the money and they cant deny that.
WorldWideConnected.com: What has been the secret to your longevity?
Like my cousin Huggy would say “I believe in karma” because look at all of the obstacles I went thru. In edition to that I am real religious too. We don’t get to stay here because nobody does and when God calls me I want to be abel to weigh out on a scale my good and my bad and I want my good to come out with thumbs up. That way I can sleep better and I don’t have to look behind myself and look in my rearview mirror. MY kind heart must be my down fall. God did that because at least you aint too mean.
WorldWideConnected.com: What can you tell me about your new solo album?
It is really the best album in the whole world. If one listens to the album and my situation at hand if it wasn’t for my cousin and him snatching me up and putting me under his wing by keeping me in the studio, keeping me in the studio, and keeping me in the studio. In actuality him and I both knew that I had to go turn myself in.
WorldWideConnected.com: What happened?
There was a situation that came about where I was suppose to report to a certain individual but it was beyond my comprehension who I was suppose to report to and they look at that as an excuse. Why fight’em? Just go and turn myself in and by the time I get back out we will have something ready to come up out the over and that is what we have with “That’s What You thought.” It is a nice package! It don’t have all the features that I could of used like Method Man, Redman, Lil’ Kim, Keisha Cole, and etcetera but you can tell that we still put paint where there aint with out them. I guess you kind of say that we did the best that we could with the tools that we had.
WorldWideConnected.com: I don’t like the features! I like to hear more of the actual artist who is on the cover! I feel ya homie!
Right because in the same manor in what you are speaking on do you remember when me, and Too Short really kicked the doors down? That was back in 1987 and what started was The Dangerous Crew and it was myself, Spice-1, and the girls that sung on Don’t Fight The Feeling and that was the original Dangerous Crew.
WorldWideConnected.com: Has there ever been talks of all of you doing a album together?
Yeah we talked about that and we are going to do it if God is willing and if Bush and them don’t blow the planet up first.
WorldWideConnected.com: Do you still work with Spice
I talked to Spice yesterday and he is networking right now meditating getting his write on. He is in the studio and he has a lot of surprises up and coming for the world. That is my homeboy and we go back.
WorldWideConnected.com: What does the Frisco rap scene in 2007?
I would honestly have to give it a thumbs up because there is a lot going on right now. I am proud of the ones who stuck with the script. Too all the young ones in the rap game I just want to tell you not to ever hang up your microphone. Like Pac said, only God Can Judge You.
WorldWideConnected.com: How was it to be on All Eyez On Me?
It was a pleasure to be on the album but I should have been on more songs. I’m looking for my Uncle Suge Knight because with Pac we recorded a few joints. To answer the question it was really a pleasure and I appreciate Pac for that. Me, and Pac we really go back. I grew up with Pac. We used to do shows with me, him, and Richie Rich at the Stone which is on Broadway Street in the city of San Fran Cisco. Broadway Street is the background on my album cover for all those who want to know. That is how we doing it!
WorldWideConnected.com: What is the name of the album again?
The name of the album is “That’s What You Thought.” I remember when my brother Too Short did a song saying “I aint trippin’ no more, it really aint worth my time, so to squash it all I kicked on back and wrote yall all a rhyme.” And It is related to that same concept. To squash all of that the title of my album produced by my playa partner Sean-T is “That’s What You thought.”
WorldWideConnected.com: Sean-T is another legend!
That’s all we surround ourselves with. It is not like we are not looking out for the up and comings, but legends stay together. Let Dr. Dre know that I am looking for him and if God is willing then it will happen.
WorldWideConnected.com: Would you sign to Aftermath?
No I’m gonna keep it 4 Flavaz, Bag Men for life but we are gonna tap in with everybody. I’m about networking but independency is the number one thing right now. That is how my partner Master P came up. He took this Bay Area game down south independently.
WorldWideConnected.com: How many tracks are on the album?
There is fifteen.
WorldWideConnected.com: Isn’t your Daughter rappin now too?
Her name is Lil’ 4Tay and she has been rappin’ since she was seven. She was on my “Off Parole” composition. She formed a group with her friend who’s name is Roach and they are real hot right now. The group’s name is B.I.G and they are the definition of the “Hyphy Movement.”
WorldWideConnected.com: That has to be a proud moment for you?
Yeah that is a very proud moment. That’s my seed!
WorldWideConnected.com: How would you describe her rappin’ style?
She helps me with the new lingo. She is a graduate and I put her in a catholic school coming up and her vocabulary is good. It is mixed with that corporate America and that gutta so it is brilliance. She has a gift!
